A younger couple came to us wanting more room for entertainment in their newly bought chopped up 1960 rancher. The floor plan did not match their desire to host family and friends. We went in and removed most of the interior walls and living portion of the home and did an all new kitchen suitable for entertaining guests complete with all new shaker style painted cabinets and natural stone countertops. They had a desire to make their current home a permanent spot for the young family going forward, that entailed taking the existing home and transforming it from a 1950's rancher home to the two story cottage that they had seen in a magazine. As is often the case, when you are opening up an existing home, you are removing a lot of load bearing walls, which created a structural issue that had to be addressed with laminated beams and trimmed in a creative manne
