This house had undergone several additions over the past few decades. All of these additions had left the house as a maze of small rooms, many with no defined use. Siding covered the entire house and the result was a bland house with no character. The kitchen and a guest bath were original to the house. A sunroom had been added to the back of the house and was not built on any foundation. The backyard had been taken over by the sunroom and a large slab of concrete that was used as a patio. The home needed to have a new floor plan that would make sense for a modern family. In order to accomplish this many walls were removed, the sunroom was demolished, the concrete patio removed and the laundry room completely rebuilt. The living room was too small for a growing family so it needed to be expanded and opened up to the dining area and kitchen.
The bedroom walls were moved and redesigned to accommodate a master suite and three bedrooms. The master bedroom was given a large walk-in closet and master bath. The master bath now includes a tiled shower, separate soaker tub and two-sink vanity with marble countertops. A guest bath with pedestal sink, tiled shower and toilet was added to one of the bedrooms to create a guest suite. The hallway guest bath was gutted and given new tile, plumbing fixtures and vanity. A combination of old and new pine wood floors were stained a dark color and woven together throughout the home. We gave the living room more space by enclosing the front porch and adding a new front porch. The fireplace was repaired and brought back to working order. We were able to reuse the original mantel. The living room, dining area and kitchen were given a modern open concept by removing walls. New shaker style cabinets were installed in a creamy white finish and topped with a black matte granite countertop. A large kitchen island provides additional storage and seating for three people. Stainless steel sink and appliances and new lighting finish off the kitchen renovation. A pocket door was installed to separate the kitchen from the laundry room / mudroom. The laundry / mudroom was rebuilt and given enough space for washer / dryer, a built in bench and cabinets. A new water heater was installed in the attic space. The entire yard was carefully manicured by adding new sod, a privacy fence, shrubs, and flowers.
